Christenings
The Christening Service, also known as 'Baptism', is usually held once a month
at 12 noon in St Andrew's.
This year, because of the number of families coming forward, we
are running extra services: usually no more than two families attend any one service.

to make an appointment to discuss a date.
Things to note:
You don't have to be a church member, but you will be asked to attend a
'KyCh' - Know your Christening
a Saturday morning session in St Nicholas church about the meaning of Christening.
Other families will probably be Christened at the same service.
There are some Sundays - during December for example - which are not available for Christening services.
Funerals
Funerals are usually arranged through an undertaker.
A burial is preceeded by a church service because there is no chapel at the cemetery.
A service at the crematorium can also have a church service first, particularly if a large number
of mourners are expected.
The church has a good PA system for playing cds.
Fr Tim
will meet with you and your family to discuss the service arrangements.
On the Sunday after the funeral, the name of the one who died will be read out during the prayers
in the morning service.
On Remembrance Sunday, in November, the names of all who have died during the
year are read out during the service.
Weddings
If you live in the Parish of Buckland and you have not been married before, you
have a right to be married in the Parish Church (either St Andrew or St Nicholas).
If you or your partner is divorced, then Fr Tim will have to discuss the
circumstances of your previous marriage before deciding whether you can be
re-married.

Things to note:
The fees for 2012 are £433.
The Parish of Buckland goes from the middle of Cherry Tree Avenue, (but
including the streets around the Kings Hall) to Friars Way; and from the fields
beyond Poulton Close to Christ Church Academy, including some of the streets in Old Park.
If you do not live in the parish but have a family connection with Buckland
Church - e.g. a Christening or a wedding - you can probably still be married in the church.
